How
CallRex Works
Overview - CallRex records/monitors
telephone calls by sniffing packets traversing across the
data network. Packet sniffing is achieved by enabling port
mirroring on the data switch. Port mirroring is supported by
most data switches and when enabled will send a copy of
every packet destined for one port to another port. A mote
detailed explanation is presented below.
IP Office 403 is plugged into port 24 (the Observe port) on
the data switch. Port mirroring is enabled on this port.
The CallRex Server is plugged into port 1 on the switch.
Every packet going to port 24 is mirrored to port1, thus
enabling CallRex to sniff every packet going to and from the
IP Office 403.
