Cisco VoIP call recording
by CallRex Professional is an advanced,
packet-based call recording and monitoring
software solution designed for the Cisco
CallManager and CallManager Express.
CallRex was selected by Cisco to be a member
of the Cisco Technology Developer Program
(formerly the AVID Select Partner Program).
With installations around the world, CallRex
Professional and CallRex Express continue to
be the preferred call recording solutions
for the Cisco CallManager.
CallRex Professional is an ideal Cisco call
recording solution because it uses
packet-sniffing technology to record calls.
Packet-based call recording offers an
advanced, yet affordable, solution to small
and medium businesses that were previously
unable to afford call recording and
monitoring solutions.

How CallRex
Works
Overview - CallRex records/monitors
telephone calls by sniffing is achieved by enabling port
spanning on the data switch. Port spanning is supported by
most data switched and when enabled will send a copy of
every packet destined for one port to another port. A more
detailed explanation is presented below.
Cisco CallManager is plugged into port 24 and the Cisco
Gateway is plugged into port 23 (the spanned ports) on the
data switch. Port spanning is enabled on these ports.
The CallRex Server is plugged into port 1 on the switch.
Every packet going to port 24 and 23 is spanned to port 1,
thus enabling CallRex to sniff every packet going to and
from the Cisco CallManager and Cisco Gateway.
