How CallRex Works
Overview - CallRex records/monitors
telephone calls by sniffing packets traversing across the
data network. Packet sniffing is achieved by enabling port
mirroring on the data switch. Port mirroring is supported by
most data switches and when enabled will send a copy of
every packet destined for one port to another port. A mote
detailed explanation is presented below.
Mitel 3300 is plugged into port 24 (the Observe port) on the
data switch. Port mirroring is enabled on this port.
The CallRex Server is plugged i to port 1 on the switch.
Every packet going to port 24 is mirrored to port 1, thus
enabling CallRex to sniff every packet going to and from the
